Give Me More Fat!

OK so some interesting discoveries today, number one I am a major CARB girl, I NEED my daily carbs. And there are actually good carbs that I can have like squash, green apples, and I decided to introduce cheese early to see if our bodies are ready for it (if we have any reactions, gas, bloating, "squirts"constipation, skin rash, then it's TOO SOON! heh heh)

When I woke up this morning I felt SO weak and shaky I couldn't even get out of bed I went straight to the kitchen and literally DEVOURED a green apple, it was like eating fruit straight from the garden of eden it tasted divine! I went to eat another one but remembered the home-made kefir (cultured milk-kinda like buttermilk) my sister Autumn made.  I made a blueberry, honey, coconut water smoothy it sooooo helped I started to feel normal again)
I decided that we would not be doing the full "Gaps Introduction Diet" cuz it's specifically for people with major digestive problems, (which praise God we don't have). But we will be doing the FULL GAPS DIET you have to check out the website to see what the heck I am talking about. :) www.gapsdiet.com
OH and I am so impressed with how my appetites have already changed! I usually use meat as a meal enhancer not the main course, and I don't really LOVE meat just the taste sometimes. Welllllll now, I devour a whole chicken thigh and I actually WANT the skin and the fat juices taste so satisfying, and I eat lots of soaked and dehydrated nuts. AND... I am famished within 2 hrs after eating a ton. I have always believed, the all too false understanding of fats being BAD!  Plus I only cook with butter, cuz most oils become toxic when heated to high, except animal fat, organic raw cold pressed coconut oil, and olive oil. And I have lost 4 pounds!!??? All contrary to my beliefs in how we are to noursih our bodies wow!

Well our brain literally functions on fat! Annnnd.......

"FATS from animal and vegetable sources provide a concentrated source of energy in the diet, they also supply the building blocks for cell membranes and a variety of hormones and hormone like substances.  Fats as part of a meal slow down nutrient absorption so that we can go longer with out feeling hungry.  IN addition they act as carriers for important fat-soluble vitamins A,D,E, and K.  Dietary fats are needed for the conversion of carotene to vitamin A, for mineral absorption and for a host of other processes!"   ("Nourishing Traditions" Sally Fallon)

The boys are doing so well at eating everything I offer them except the squash pancakes (they aren't that awesome) and when they eat, they EAT!! ( I don't think we ever fully finished off a COSTCO rotisserie chicken in one sitting). I still can't believe Daniel, Ian, and Joel were ASKING for fresh sauerkraut!!!  Where as before, they would only plug their nose and quickly gulp down a tablespoon of the juice.  (These are good probiotics for the healing of the gut and better digestion) And Ian likes onions now! Amazing! Annnnnd of course as I mentioned about Joel WANTING to eat sardines!

A true depiction of our lunch earlier today :)
These photos are not reenactments

I even gave little Abi some watered down chicken stock in her bottle and she drank it without any hesitation. :)

Ruslan is doing amazing cuz he's  a major PROTEIN guy, he wakes up with energy, and already, his breathing has been restored! Before we started GAPS he was having a hard time getting a full breath he kept feeling short of out of breath often and not able to get a full breath.  I am pretty sure that was due to so many sugars and white flours :( and probably not enough protein. Since I had no grid for the need of SO MUCH PROTEIN when I wasn't like that. :)

A little change to my blogging

So I decided to try and be a little more steady and consistent with my blogging.  I know we all have those moments of great motivation and it lasts about 2-3 weeks and then something happens...called life...and we lose track of our focus...or maybe that's just me?

What I really want this blog to be about is exactly as I titled it, Raw life.  I know I don't have all the answers and in fact I am always looking for more.  I realize though, that through our 11 years of marriage and raising 3 boys (getting started right away-honeymoon baby) and pregnant with our 4th, we have learned a thing or two about marriage, raising kids, letting God be the center of a hectic life, and whatever else comes with all that. :)  I just thought it would be awesome to share whatever we might have learned with some of you who are maybe going through a similar thing.  It would be wonderful to by-pass "learning the hard way."

As we have recently moved to Eugene Oregon, we specifically heard one thing from the Lord and that was: "I want you to learn community."  Funny thing is, having been raised with 9 siblings, I thought I knew that quite well. I was wrong. :) It's been a good process so far and of course we are only just beginning.

My nugget for today:

So anyway! Right now I am in the middle of figuring out which project to be working on???? Maybe you have some suggestions?
- I am needing to finish my book about my experience with the fasting, I have it all written I just need to finish editing and then formatting.
-I also have a children's book that I need to find a graphics design person who can help me for very cheap :( Or maybe I should just try printing it as is???

-I am wanting to exhibit my photographs in May's arthop here in Redding in June, so I need to order and pick some photos for that!???

-I need to make some connections for my life shirts. Actually I need $295.00 (once again money??) to become a member of Catholic Marketing Network so I can send out a postcard or something to see if any Christian bookstores want to carry my shirts.

- I need creative ways to make these things happen when I don't have the money yet?
-I need to figure out better marketing ideas for our Travel Agency Kairos Travel
-I want to finish the illustrations for my second children's book

So as you see I have a lot on my mind, now all I need is focus and a plan. Which thing first and focus- do it til its done! Sheesh!

Also Homeschooling and being a wife and mother of 3! I love being busy but I need order, I want to be a good steward of what we already have. I see ideas brewing and I feel motivation and excitement now I need order order order. I would love any suggestions. I know some of you out there are extremely talented in this area that I lack.

My Very First Blog!

I have decided to start blogging our lives, the Kalashnikov's, that is. I have never blogged before, but I hear it's the new thing to do ;). Anyway I am going to try and update it weekly, we shall see how I do????
I have just been thinking a lot about how much we, humans, can tend to keep to ourselves. I notice how I forget that there are so many people out there who would be happy to help or encourage or hear what I have to say or share, or pray with us and for us. People who also want to be a part of someone else's world. Thus came my desire to blog.
We are in the process of so many things it feels like and no one is even aware. I love to have encourager's along the way, supporters who remind us why we should continue to persevere in the goals that we have. People who tell us to go ahead, “take that leap of faith!' So here I am I hope I have at least one reader who will be willing to join us on our journey, and I hope that one reader will be so encouraged and uplifted that he/she will pass on my blog and that reader will also do the same and so on and so forth, until the WHOLE WORLD knows about the Kalashnikov Clan updates! Hey who said I couldn't dream big! Right??!!!
OK I realize a blog shouldn't be too long cuz I will lose you right away. So for now I will tell you what we are doing right this moment. We are on our way to North Carolina tomorrow (it is 11:30 PM right now) to go to a conference called “Pursue, Overtake, Recover ALL,” I love that title! My awesome Mom is watching all three boys so that we can go, thank You Lord for Moms! I am also planning on asking Mahesh Chavda if he would be willing to write a blurb for my book that I am writing, I Survived the 40 Day Fast (and you can too), I may not even get a chance to talk to him but I am praying there will be an opportunity, I have my letter of request all ready and I am also praying I don't chicken out because who am I to get Mahesh Chavda to do a blurb for me??? Well hopefully that scripture comes into play “You have not because you ask not.” I'd appreciate your prayers for favor favor favor! Thanks.
